Who We Are

We are an organisation that brings together like-minded people who share an interest in history and historical matters, especially that of Launceston and surrounding areas.

What We Do

We promote and foster understanding of the history of Launceston, the Tamar Valley and nearby districts through a variety of ways, including:  a program of monthly lectures where eminent speakers from Tasmania & beyond speak on the many facets of local history;  the publication of the Society's Newsletter, Papers & Proceedings and Occasional Papers;  facilitating The Examiner - John West Memorial Lecture and the annual Symposium as well as the occasional excursion.
